FREE Online Resources to Market Your Plus Size Events

I’ve shared with you 7 different types of events that I believe are essential for plus size designers and store owners. Planning events for your business requires an investment of your time, energy, and sometimes your funds. However, the ultimate goal of your event is to make sure that your target audience knows about it and will be in audience. So here are 6 free resources that you can use to market your plus size events. The great thing about these resources is not only are you specifically targeting the plus size community but it also helps to have links that are connected to your website which boosts web traffic and potentially attendees to your events.
  • www.plussizeevents.com is a calendar of local, national and global events for plus size women. It’s the #1 google search for the keyword phrase “plus size events” which means it gets a lot of web traffic; so this website is a great place for those visitors to learn more about your events. It’s free to post your events and you can also find out about other plus size related events as well.
  • Daily Venus Diva Events calendar  Daily Venus Diva is an exclusive online plus size magazine, social community and resource for ‘everything curvy!’. You can sign up to join this community of savvy plus size women to connect with potential clients and friends. Once you’ve become a member, feel free to share your events on the events calendar; it was the 3rd search result on Google which helps to boost web traffic to your site.
  • www.meetup.com is a great site that allows you to actually connect with people in real life who shares similar interests. In fact, it’s the largest network of local groups. It’s absolutely free to signup and you can join groups that are geared towards plus size women in your area. Each group has a calendar of activities and you can definitely invite members of your group to your event.
  • www.Facebook.com is a social network that allows you to connect with your friends and clients on a more personal level for free. Doing a quick search on “plus size” will return close to 500 results of plus size related groups. Joining these groups help you to grow your network on a local and international level. Facebook has many great features, one of which is the Calendar that allows you to create your own events, invite your friends, as well as publicly share with your network what you have planned.
  • www.twitter.com is one of the most talked about social media tools today; it’s often defined as a microblogging tool that allows you to send and receive messages better known as tweets. I like to describe it as instant messenger on steiroids. It allows you to connect with people faster than you can image. Again, using the search feature helps you to find your target market and join in on the fun conversations. Don’t forget to post links to your events and share valuable information with your followers. Information is constatntly being shared on twitter and for many, it’s their largest traffic source. Now that Google has now integrated twitter streams in their search, it can definitely help you to boost your online visibility as well.
  • www.craigslist.org  Craigslist is one of the oldest and most popular local classifieds online. You can buy or find just about anything on craigslist and that is truly an understatement.  You can also find props, graphic designers, promo staff, you name it – there are tons of resources to help pull your event off all on craigslist! More importantly, there’s a Community section that allows you to post your events in any city – all for FREE.

The internet and social media has changed the way we do business in so many ways. The resources that are available are endless and many of them are free to use. So it’s important for you to take advantage of these tools as a plus size entrepreneur.
These 6 resources are a lot faster and easier than posting fliers or posting an ad in your local newspaper. It’s all about building valuable relationships moreso than making the sale using these tools and inviting your online community to your events is a great way to get things going.
